Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort, Debuts $25 Million Legends Ballroom

Miami, FL (PRWeb) January 30, 2007 -- Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort, rings in 2007 with the debut of the 60,000-square-foot Legends Ballroom. The new $25 million facility features a 24,000-square-foot ballroom with 22-foot ceilings and 27,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor pre-function space. Accommodating up to 2,000 attendees, the Legends Ballroom is the ideal location for corporate events, meetings, elaborate receptions and unforgettable social affairs.

"The Legends Ballroom, in addition to our existing Miami banquet rooms, and meeting and convention space, offers the opportunity to host larger events in a truly legendary setting, further enhancing Doral's position as one of the country's premier golf resort and spa destinations," said Tuni Kyi, vice president and general manager of Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort.

As one of Miami's premier resorts, the Miami, FL, hotel features more than 110,000 square feet of function space in over 40 rooms. The flexible space can be sectioned into 12 break-out rooms and boasts state-of-the-art technology. Offering meeting planners the unique opportunity to interact with Doral's renowned chefs, the Legends Ballroom also features a modern kitchen where chefs will be able to showcase their culinary masterpieces as they prepare menu selections for each event.

The Legends Ballroom is named in honor of the renowned guests that have stayed and played the resort's Miami golf courses since its opening 45 years ago, including Tiger Woods, Jackie Gleason, Joe Namath and Greg Norman to name a few. "Doral has a rich history of hosting legendary moments, from Tiger Woods' unbelievable eagle in 2005 during the 'Duel at Doral' against arch rival Phil Mickelson to Greg Norman's three amazing PGA Championship wins," said Kyi, "The Legends Ballroom pays tribute to this extraordinary history, as well as providing the opportunity to host legendary events to come."

The new Legends Ballroom is one of several renovations taking place at the resort in 2007, including a $2 million renewal of the treatment rooms at the European-inspired Spa at Doral and $3 million renovation of guestrooms and meeting space. Doral Golf Resort & Spa will also enhance the leisure amenities at the resort, adding four tennis courts and replacing the greens on the Gold Course.

In 2006, the resort's famed Blue Monster golf course underwent its own makeover. The Blue Monster, one of five championship golf courses on property, re-opened on September 25, 2006, after a four-month renovation, including a series of refinements designed to create more consistent playing conditions throughout the year. The enhancements also prepared the course for the CA Championship, a World Golf Championship event taking place March 20-25, 2007.

How To Play Better Golf
High handicappers, low handicappers and even the pros consistently have the goal of playing better golf. The methods often touted to arrive at the target of better golf are as varied as those attempting to achieve it.

Golf - Principles Of The Game
In a golf course, we find bunkers and water bodies. We wonder why they are there in the course. They are called hazards or obstacles, laid in the golf course to make the game more difficult for the players. Depressions are created in the ground and filled with sand. Water hazards may be a pond or a stream. Golfers try to avoid such hazards, but if the ball lands in hazards, the player hits the ball if it is playable otherwise lifts the ball out and plays or plays another ball. If the player uses another ball, he is penalized and one more stroke is added to his score.
