Renowned Indian Wells Celebrity Golf Course Opens at Renaissance Esmeralda
Indian Wells, CA (PRWeb) December 6, 2006 -- Indian Wells Golf Resorts' Clive Clark-designed Celebrity Course is now open, and the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa invites you to detour to the desert this winter to experience one-of-a-kind golf and luxury. Indulge in a Palm Springs vacation at the world-class Esmeralda Resort and surround yourself with some of the country's most renowned golf courses.
The par-72, 18-hole, championship golf Celebrity Course is the first of two new golf courses to be built at the Indian Wells Golf Resort. The popular travel and golf destination encompasses the Renaissance Esmeralda and three other Palm Springs golf resorts.
"We are very excited about the reopening of the famous Celebrity Course, and to offer golfers of all skill-sets and other visitors the chance to play and stay at our relaxing Palm Springs resort," said Tim Pyne, director of sales and marketing at Renaissance Esmeralda.
The City of Indian Wells supplied Clark with the original West Course property plus an additional 30 acres, but the Celebrity Course is far from a renovation, as all of the golf holes are completely new with only a couple that could be considered vaguely familiar.
"I appreciate the opportunity to design this golf course, and I'm pleased with the finished product," said Clark. "From the onset, I was given the liberty to be creative. Each hole has its own unique personality and I sincerely hope the new Celebrity Course will give a lot of pleasure to golfers of all standards."
Most of the holes are oriented east/west to take advantage of the famous desert views of the San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and San Bernardino mountain ranges, and an Indian Wells icon, Eisenhower Mountain, stands sentinel to the south. The golf course's seven water features - which include waterfalls, creeks and ponds - come into play, and are designed to have both aesthetic and strategic appeal.
